Investment Casting Australia – Precision Lost Wax Castings

Investment Casting Australia – Precision Lost Wax Casting

Malabou Pty Ltd is an Australian-based supplier of high-quality investment castings for mining, defence, infrastructure, transport, agriculture and industrial manufacturing sectors.

We provide precision lost wax casting solutions through an established global manufacturing network, supported by Australian technical oversight, quality assurance and responsive local service.

If you are searching for a dependable investment casting supplier in Australia, Malabou delivers engineered casting solutions designed for performance, durability and cost efficiency.

Investment Casting

Investment casting, also known as lost wax casting, is a precision metal casting process used to produce complex, high-accuracy components with excellent surface finish.

The process involves:

Producing a wax pattern of the component

Building a ceramic shell around the pattern

Removing the wax to create a mould cavity

Pouring molten metal into the mould

Finishing and inspecting the solidified casting

This near-net-shape manufacturing method enables intricate geometries without flash or parting lines, significantly reducing secondary machining and fabrication requirements.

Compared with sand casting or machining from billet, investment casting offers:

 Greater dimensional accuracy

 Improved surface finish

 Material efficiency

Lower total production cost for complex parts

Investment Casting Capability

Malabou supplies precision cast components ranging from small intricate parts to substantial structural components.

Size & Weight Range

 From just a few grams

Up to approximately 25 kg per casting

Cross sections from ~2.5 mm to 75 mm

This flexibility allows us to support both detailed precision parts and larger load-bearing components.

Dimensional Accuracy & Surface Finish

Investment casting is chosen for its precision.

Typical tolerances:

±0.1 mm for the first 25 mm

±0.04 mm for each additional 10 mm

Standard surface finish:

 1.3 – 4.0 µm Ra

This level of accuracy reduces machining time, improves consistency and lowers total component cost.
